Our founder Mr Gideon Khoo (centre), with Andrew Chia, co-founder of CharityMalaysia.com
The Hiding Place, Penang
The Hiding Place is a drug rehabilitation centre providing residential programme started in 1981 by Mr Gideon Khoo, a former drug dependent. At any one time we have about 30 addicts undergoing our 18-month rehabilitation programme through:-
a) The Hiding Place b) The Halfway House
Besides that we have two other organisations, that is, Stulos Point which provide residential care to male teenagers with behavioural issues ranging from truancy, internet addiction, gangs and delinquency. The Covenant Construction and Trading is a registered company undertaking renovation work such as painting, house shifting, electrical wiring, etc. The Covenant earns income which in turn supports the daily operational costs of The Hiding Place.
Besides funds, we have been waiting for assistance from either the Government or the private sector to help us centralise our above-mentioned operations which are now spread into 4 locations respectively. The land area required would be about 3 acres.
We take this opportunity to thank all our donors, landlords and everyone who have been strongly supporting us so far.
